December 31 2012 Cheering in vain Although Jill, Kyle and I watched the Bears win over Detroit it was all for naught. Later the Green Bay Packers lost to the Minnesota Vikings thus knocking the Bears out of the playoffs.
December 30 2012 More cold feet Moments after I took the heron shot all of these ducks showed up. As I turned to watch them I missed a shot of the heron taking flight. It was a very gray day and the original of this picture didn't look great. I had just downloaded Perfect Effects4 from OnOne software so I applied an effect called Toanl Contrast
December 29 2012 Getting cold feet We were surprised to see this heron wading through the icy cold waters of Salt Creek yesterday. We think of them as warm weather creatures and thought that they left for the winter.
December 28 2012 Surfin Just messing around trying different settings on the new camera. Nothing noteworthy here; this is a car I keep on top of my desk. Reminds me of the red and white 56 Chevy which was my first car.
December 27 2012 Art Bold Effect My new camera has a few in camera filters. Not sure I'll find them of much use but thought I would at least experiment. For this one I took a picture out the back window and applied the filter they call "Art Bold". Used picmonkey collage to show you the original and the filtered result.
December 26 2012 We had a nice Christmas Hope you did too. I picked up the lens for my birthday last summer. Found this camera under the tree on Christmas morning. One of the nice features is that the LCD is touch sensitive so you can make menu choices or review pictures much like you do on a smart phone.
December 25 2012 Merry Christmas We went to my brother's last night and I got this shot of Scarlett and Lindsey.
December 24 2012 Ready for Christmas dinner We're having the kids and grandkids tomorrow but today is pretty busy so we got the table set. A Merry Christmas to all my smugmug friends. Hope there's some fancy camera gear under the tree for you. If there is, take a picture of it and post it on Wednesday or Thursday.
December 22 2012 Lights This was one of those unplanned, "let's see what happens" shots. It's the best I've got for today. Have a super weekend.
