Art Hill > November 3, 2009 Away again We're out of town, didn't get there till late so not really any picture taking opportunities until after dark. I shot this at 6400 ISO since I stuck with handheld. Not too bad though. You'll have to guess where we are until tomorrow when I post something that will give it away. Unfortunately, rainy today but the rest of the week looks good. I won't be able to comment since we'll be out all day but I'll catch up later. Have a great day.
Art Hill > November 2, 2009 Spooky This is the house next door to us. He has always put up the decorations; this year he added a smoke machine. He comes to the door in costume. I showed you my daughter's jack-o-lanterns in progress a couple of days ago. the finised product is here. Art Hill > November 1, 2009 Halloween We got to see all four grandkids by going to Kyle and Braden's and then over to Lindsey and Scarlett's. Kyle and Lindsey both seemed much better by late in the day. It was cold and windy but at least no rain. Thanks for the fantastic response to my pumpkin shot yesterday. It moved to #14 on my most popular photo list. You can see that two-pumpkin guy with a black hat on in the upper right.
Art Hill > October 31, 2009 Happy Halloween My daughter and granddaughters have been hard a work on jack-o-lanterns. Our whole family was supposed to get together last night so I could get pictures of all four grandkids in their costume. My five year old grandson got the swine flu so we couldn't get together. Alas the kids won't even see each other this Halloween. I think, for a little kid, the two times you don't want to be sick are Halloween and Christmas. I don't think Kyle will even get to go trick or treating. Maybe if he has no fever this morning he can make it out for a little while this afternoon. Update: Halloween is deteriorating rapidly for us. Now Lindsey has the fever and cough, Braden seems lethargic. Only Scarlett is okay for now. So, I'm not going to have much in the way of Halloween costume pictures. Our town has a Halloween walk this morning; Lindsey is going to miss that and probably won't be able to trick or treat. Party at her house tonight is cancelled too. Sheesh
Art Hill > October 30, 2009 Scarlett I watched Scarlett at her house while her Mom took Lindsey to her preschool Halloween party. I shot a short video of Scarlett and put it on the laptop for her to see. She was fascinated by it and wanted to watch it over and over. While I was showing it to her she kept reaching for the mouse so I let her sit in the chair. She's 2 1/2. I had some good fall shots and thought I would post one but couldn't resist posting this one. I've entered a few shots in a contest at Midwest Living Magazine and would appreciate it if you found time to go over there and click on "I like this" next to any of the pictures you like. Art Hill > October 29, 2009 Twins We took Kyle and Lindsey to a little nature center in Oak Brook. It was a gloomy day with no sun so the only thing I got worth posting was this reflection of the buildings in the little nature center lake/pond. (Buildings are at the northwest corner of Route 83 and Butterfield. Ditkas Restaurant in one of them)
Art Hill > October 28 2009 This is why they call it Fall Of course the classic fall shots show the trees in all their glory. Sometimes though, even the leaves on the ground make a pretty scene. This is in my next door neighbors front yard.
Art Hill > October 27, 2009 War Rooms Miserable weather yesterday so I didn't even pick up the camera. Thought I would share some of the experience at the War Rooms we visited in London Top left The Map Room came into use on the very first day that the Cabinet War Rooms were ready for occupation and never ceased to be the hub of the whole site until VJ Day. Quietly closed down the next day, 16 August 1945, it was left almost exactly as we see it today, every book, map, chart, pin and notice occupying the same position now that they occupied then. The walls are pasted with large scale maps of the Atlantic, the seas around the United Kingdom and Far Eastern theatres of war including maps showing the island-hopping operations by the American sea-borne forces in the Pacific. Top right Churchill's room He insisted on having as close access as possible to the Map Room and his office was sited right next door to it, with a communicating door. On four occasions during the dark days of the second half of 1940, after the majority of central Europe had fallen to Hitler's armies, it was from this office that Churchill broadcast to the nations of the world. It was here he met the Heads of State, the politicians and military figures who visited the Map Room. Art Hill > October 26, 2009 Scarlett The kids grew their own pumpkins in the backyard. These two are Scarlett's and she's pretty proud of them.

I watched Scarlett at her house while her Mom took Lindsey to her preschool Halloween party. I shot a short video of Scarlett and put it on the laptop for her to see. She was fascinated by it and wanted to watch it over and over. While I was showing it to her she kept reaching for the mouse so I let her sit in the chair. She's 2 1/2.
