Art Hill > June 12, 2009 Rose
Saw this on my walk around the neighborhood. I enjoy walking so much more now that there are flowers. Thanks so much for the wonderful response to yesterday's photo. It rose the the 5th most popluar photo I have posted.
Art Hill > June 11, 2009 Scarlett
I take a lot of pictures of my grandkids. It's not easy to do. I've never had much luck getting them to pose so I just shoot pictures as they play. Some days when I go through the batch I don't find any that really hit me. Lots of okay ones and a few pretty good ones. Every once in a while though I get some I really like. This is one of those. She is 2 years and 3 months old. Show me a cuter two year old :-)
I have so much fun with her.
Art Hill > June 10, 2009 Pink explosion
Most days I just take a walk around the neighborhood and see what's blooming.
Art Hill > June 9, 2009 Sad fate
I'm sad to say I won't be shooting any more pictures of this little trio. Yesterday afternoon my wife heard quite a ruckus outside out front door - sounded like a loud crow and lots of other birds. She went out to investigate and spotted an enormous crow in our tree right by the robins nest. The crow flew away when she went out on the deck but there are no more baby robins. She called me and by the time I got out there the crow was high up in another tree watching us. Several robins began to fly around the crow so it took off. Largest crow I've ever seen.
We are so bummed - it had been a lot of fun watching these little birds develop.
I got a couple more here

Art Hill > June 8 2009 Where's Lunch?
I wish I had a better vantage point to shoot this nest but doing the best I can from down by our front door. This is pretty high up so I can't get much of a shot of the 3 baby birds. They were very active yesterday and appear to be outgrowing the nest.
Art Hill > June 7, 2009 Hibiscus
On our deck.
Art Hill > June 6, 2009 A swing and a miss
Went to a White Sox game last night. We saw a lot of strikes. The White Sox were shut out 6-0 by the last place Cleveland Indians.
But it was a beautiful night for a baseball game and, as you can see, we had fantastic seats. Nice fireworks show after the game too.
Art Hill > June 3, 2009 Nest in the tree by our front door
This is pretty high up in the tree and no good anlge for a shot. I got this from just inside our front door, shooting through glass. We have a second story window near this tree but branches block the view of the nest. We can also watch with binoculars from another vantage point but it's too far away to shoot with the lenses I have. Still I felt lucky to get this with both parents on the nest. Most of the time there is only one.
Art Hill > June 4, 2009 Ducks in our pond with fish
I spent way too much time trying to decide what picture to post for today's POD. Flowers seem to be a crowd pleaser and I take lots of them. Sometimes though I think that I'd like to show you something you might not otherwise see - like the Lake Geneva mansions or the public art project in our town. I think you all have flowers that you can shoot. So, anyway I ended up posting this duck picture from our pond that also shows some of our fish. They have never stayed until June before.
That's another thing I wonder about - should I post a picture like this that has an interesting subject but isn't a particularly good photograph or should I post a technically great photo even if the subject is run of the mill? So, you can see I'm thinking too much today.
Thoughts?
