Art Hill > May 25, 2009 Happy Memorial Day
Let us remember and honor those who served and sacrificed. It's important.

Haven't had a chance to be online since Friday. We went to my daughter's house to watch her two boys for the weekend. Lots of fun but no free time :-) Both of our hibiscus bushes produced lots of blossoms while we were away.

Art Hill > May 23, 2009 I'm running behind
I'm calling this Saturday's post. We started watching our 5 and 3 year old grandsons Friday at noon. This is the equivalent of no online time at all. I might get another one up today, or not :-) Hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was busy but fun and the weather was outstanding.
Art Hill > May 22, 2009 First Hibiscus
Every year we buy two hibiscus bushes for our deck and I look forward to photographing the flowers. I just checked and found that I posted our first hibiscus last year on May 20 - before I joined the dailies

Art Hill > May 21, 2009 Watchful
We planned to plant flowers at the edge of the pond but just before we went out the ducks arrived. Usually if we get too close they fly away. My wife decided to try moving slowly and quietly and the ducks just moved to the other side of the pond - not in the water but close to the waterfall. They watched us warily for a time and then actually took naps. After a while they even got back in the water. So this is the closest I have ever gotten to the ducks.

We're surprised they have stayed this late this year. I realize this isn't a very good picture but they came late in the day and sat partially in full shade with blazing sun mostly on her. I fooled around with the RAW file in this one as much as I can so that's it.

Art Hill > May 18, 2009 Frank Lloyd Wright House
Oak Park, Illinois is home to the world's largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings and houses, with 25 structures built between 1889 and 1913. It was in Oak Park that Wright developed and perfected his signature Prairie Style architecture, emphasizing the use of interior light and open spaces in low, earth-hugging buildings. His designs changed the course of 20th century architecture. Many of the Wright houses and buildings in Oak Park and River Forest are registered National Historic Landmarks.

We took a walk through Oak Park and saw quite of few of the Wright homes. This was our own favorite. The Heurtley House, built in 1902 right donw the street from Wright's own house and studio. I have a few other shots here
