Art Hill > March 23, 2009 Flapping Her Wings The two ducks have established a regular pattern of spending afternoons in our backyard pond.
Art Hill > March 22, 2009 Tank at First Division Museum We went to the First Division Museum at Cantigny http://www.firstdivisionmuseum.org/ This one of many tanks surrounding the museum. Very interesting place with some Normany invasion film footage that I had not seen. Also some excellent film from the Viet Nam War.
Art Hill > March 21, 2009 Brothers Jake and Joey were relaxing in my office this morning and I haven't taken pictures of them recently.
Art Hill > March 20, 2009 Splashing Every year in late March a pair of ducks arrive in our backyard pond. This year they were earlier than they have ever been. Of course we have no way of knowing if it is the same pair but they seem to be. They exhibit the same behavior e.g. sun themselves in exactly the same spot. Caught the male yesterday splashing in the rather cold water. One of these days I'll get a decent shot of the pair - when the light is right. They spend a few hours every day at or in the pond. In mid to late April they leave. This has been going on for probably 5 or 6 years.
Art Hill > March 19, 2009 My 5 year old buddy Kyle is my oldest grandchild; he turned five years old last Thursday. In five years he has brought more joy into our lives than I would have thought possible. We're going to his house this morning and he has already told us that he wants to play Clue. He will be Professor Peacock. He also pointed out that the game box says for Ages 9 and up but he feels he has mastered the game. :-) I caught this shot of him at lunch yesterday in very tough lighting but I liked the look.
Art Hill > March 18, 2009 I can outrun this guy Yesterday we matched a temperature record for this day of 74 - the last time St. Patrick's Day was that warm here was in 1894. So it was a day to be outside and we took our two little granddaughers to Graue Mill/Salt Creek in Oak Brook to watch the ducks and geese. Art Hill > March 17, 2009 Full Speed Ahead We took our two little granddaughters over to Graue Mill in Oak Brook because it was such a nice day. Temperature in the low 70's. There are always a lot of ducks and geese over there. This one was swimming fast, really leaning into it.

Art Hill > March 15, 2009 My first 35mm camera Went into an old camera shop on State Street in Geneva, Illinois yesterday. They were displaying a lot of old cameras. My very first 35mm was an Argus C3 that I bought used sometime in the 60's. I loaned it to my brother for a trip to San Francisco. He left it in a taxi cab. The Argus C3 was a low-priced rangefinder camera mass-produced from 1939 to 1966 by Argus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. The camera was the best-selling 35mm camera in the world for nearly three decades, and helped popularize the 35mm format.
