Art Hill > January 23, 2009 Sacked
Yesterday was not a good day. I was notified at 10:00 that I was being laid off from Microsoft where I have worked for the past 8 years. Today is my last day. It was devastating news. I got my first job in 1968 and have never been fired until yesterday.
And thanks to all for the overwhelming response to my shot of Joey yesterday.

Update September 22, 2009: Imagine my surprise to see comments on this 9 month old picture today. I am still unemployed but we're getting by. Had a great summer with the grandkids. Getting used to watching how much we spend on things.
Art Hill > January 22, 2009 Joey
One of our 11 year old cats. He loves to gaze out the front window.
Art Hill > January 21, 2009 Look Sharp!
Neighbor's house. You don't want to walk under that.
Art Hill > January 20, 2009 La Jolla Cove - California
Haven't shot anything worthwhile so thought I would share this picture with you since it appeared today on the site http://www.travelmuse.com/
I shot it a few years ago. La Jolla Cove is one of our favorite places.
Art Hill > January 19, 2009 Icicles
Just drove around for a bit yesterday shooting icicles from the car.
Art Hill > January 18, 2009 Making cookies
Thursday was the day our temperature never got above zero. Kyle stayed in his pajamas all day. I went over to their house for lunch and found Kyle and his cousin Lindsey making sugar cookies.
Art Hill > January 17, 2009 Barbie Stuff
My daughters were heavily into Barbie. We stored the dolls and accessories since the early 80's in case we had granddaughters. A couple of months ago Lindsey, our 4 year old granddaughter, took all of the dolls home and most of the accessories. They couldn't carry it all. She apparently remembered that they had left some stuff though be cause she called us on the phone last night to see if she could pick up the rest of it. So today we gave her the Barbie McDonald's, the Barbie Corvette and the Barbie swimming pool. I'm not very creative so thought I'd quickly shoot this stuff and use if for the POD.
Art Hill > January 16, 2009 Surviving
It's minus 13 here with a windchill of minus 33. Spotted these squirrels out my window. There were four of them actually running up and down the tree, wrestling, cavorting. The fourth disappeared inside the tree and these three stopped like this every once in a while. I thought maybe they would hole up somewhere in this bitter cold but they just running around. This is a center crop of as close as I can get from inside the house.
Art Hill > January 15, 2009 Frozen!
Took this out the window about 7:00. 4 second exposure. You can see the moon a little bit. It is 9 below zero with a windchill of minus 25. This is the coldest day we have had since 1996. All pictures today will be shot indoors :-)
