Art Hill > March 5, 2009 Graceful
Most of the egrets shots are vertical with the bird standing tall. I kind of like the way this one turned out with the bird diagonal and the reflection.
Art Hill > March 4, 2009 Pelican
In the harbor where the African Queen is docked.
Art Hill > March 3, 2009 Blue Heron
Everglades National Park. I rarely get decent bird shots but got pretty lucky on this trip.
Art Hill > March 2, 2009 Double-crested Cormorant
Showing a closer view of this bird, this time correctly identified :-)
Everglades National Park.

Art Hill > March 1, 2009 Alligator
We're back from Florida. This is one of the guys we saw Friday at Everglades National Park near Florida City.
I put some of the Everglades pictures here

Art Hill > February 28, 2009 Anhinga
Posting tomorrow's picture and then off to bed - we have to be out early to head for the Miami airport. Today we went to Everglades National Park. Weren't sure if we would see much just being on foot but we were pleasantly surprised to take a nature trail that had all kinds of birds, alligators, and turtles. It's called the Anhinga Trail so I'm posting this shot of an Anhinga, a bird that swims under water to catch fish. It's wings then get to wet for it to fly so it jumps up on a bush, spreads it's wings and lets them dry in the sun. I know most of you can barely keep up with the dailies but if you have time take a look at

I can't remember the last time I got this many good shots in an hour.
Sorry about not commenting, being on vacation it's all I can do to post one a day. I'll get back to it when we get home. Thanks a lot for all the comments on my vacation pix.

Update: Turns out this is a double-crested cormorant
Art Hill > February 27, 2009 The Day is Done
We had dinner at a place called Sundowner's. This was what we saw. Today is our last day in Key Largo.
Art Hill > February 26, 2009 Chow Time
We stopped at a wild bird sanctuary just in time for the afternoon pelican feeding. My wife Jill (red top) was helping throw fish to the ravenous birds.
Art Hill > February 25, 2009 A Long Time Ago
Spotted this sign on our tour we were taking in Key West. I remember when Pan Am went out of business.
Had a nice time in Key West yesterday. Shooting from a moving tram isn't ideal but you sure get to see a lot more than if you're on foot.
